INSTRUCTOR: MICHAEL MCDERMOTT
DESCRIPTION: This beginner class series is designed for students grades 1 - 5 interested in learning the fun and exciting game of chess. The classes offer a balance of structured lessons and supervised play time. Each week instructor Michael McDermott will start off the class by teaching the students a new topic and then the students will have a chance to execute what they just learned in live games with their classmates. By the end of the semester each student should have enough knowledge to play in their very first chess tournament.
Beginner Level 1 Classes are for students with little or no knowledge of how the game is played.
Beginner Level 2 Classes are for students who have completed their first Beginner classes with Mike and want to learn more exciting tactics and Advanced Beginner strategies.
DATES: May 11, 18, 25; Jun. 1, 8, 15, 22, 29, 2019
PLEASE NOTE: This is a series of classes. We will not accept students for a single class or on a pro-rata basis. Any questions, please contact Fabiola by email or by calling the office: (914) 683-5322.
